Liuru Teapot

Xu Xuejun, born into a Yixing pottery family, honed his skills at Yixing No.3 Purple Clay Factory since 1992, excelling in square lightware. This Liuru  teapot strictly follows the iconic form of master Tang Binjie, blending traditional square‑ware charm with the elegant concept of the “Six Writings” – a reference to the diamond sutra’s “six enlightenments.” The result is a vessel of structural rigor and quiet sophistication.

• ▸ Hexagonal symmetry Each of the six facets has been meticulously refined to ensure perfect uniformity. The flush inset lid (qian gai) fits seamlessly, overcoming a common challenge in square ware.
• ▸ Crisp yet gentle edges The corners and edges are repeatedly polished with the “mingzhen” technique – they are firm without being harsh, clean without cutting into the hand.
• ▸ Tall neck & sloping shoulder The neck rises upright, then flows naturally into a smooth, sloping shoulder. The belly is full and rounded without appearing bulky – a harmonious transition typical of masterful square‑round fusion.
• ▸ Qingduan clay This high‑grade Duan clay (a type of Cinnabar Clay) has a pale greenish‑beige base with fine, evenly distributed gold sand grains. It offers excellent porosity, ideal for mellowing oolongs, pu’er, and black teas.
• ▸ Versatile capacity At 320 cc, it suits small gatherings of two or three friends, as well as a generous solo session. Both practical and collectible.
